Going the way of the buffalo…

This little weblog experiment has proved to be fun while it lasted, but I’m afraid I can’t keep up. Not that there are any real expectations, though I remain proud that I’m the number two search result for “child skeleton” on google images. However, I am facing 3 months of internal medicine and trying to maintain an outside life. Also, the domain is up for expiration in the next few months, an I doubt I’ll pay to keep this thing going.

My trip back to Portland a week ago was awesome. Great to see the people I had a chance to see, and sorry to miss many of you. It was a week packed full of a 10k race, pitch-and-put and Edgefield, a surprise trip to Newport, OR, and many beers shared with friends.

At the end of the week I finally made the jump into cycling that I’ve been itching to make for years. After riding a huge variety of different bikes, I finally found my new baby. I have missed mountain biking so much, and since mountain biking sans car ownership is impossible in the Bronx, this is a fantastic substitute. I always thought that cycling would be somewhat boring after growing up on Central Oregon single track. However, nothing is quite as exhilarating as riding through the Bronx, where a white kid in spandex is apparently invisible to every gypsy cab barreling down the pockmarked road.

When I’m on the bike I feel like a kid again. I can’t quite explain it, but it takes me back to when my brother and I used to tear around on shitty walmart bikes. We were always looking for bigger and better obstacles to throw our bodies and 50lbs of poorly welded steel off of. I’m glad i have a way to relive a fraction of that feeling.

Leaving on a jet-plane…

Psych is over and done, and I’m off to Oregon for a week. It’ll be good to be back for a bit.

And now for something funny.
